Wellesley Hills Residence

IDDLA’s design for this corner lot heightens the curb appeal of the striking front entrance and creates a family-friendly, informal side and garage entry. In the back we designed a private, raised, double-walled terrace with a built-in outdoor kitchen and gas firepit that makes the most of borrowed views into the adjoining woodland. A rose garden featuring a fruit tree espalier provides year-round interest. Crisp, thermal bluestone paving and beautiful fieldstone walls contribute to the landscape's classic, modern aesthetic.

We worked closely with the client, builder, architect and environmental engineer from schematic design through permitting and construction. During permitting, our team received unanimous approval by Wellesley's tough Design Review Board and Planning Board with special commendations on the landscape. In further phases we worked with the Wellesley Wetland Protection Committee to permit the restoration of the wetland buffer with a native, woodland-edge garden.
